The damn thing was in a big box by itself with one some feeble paper packing.. Naturally, it was broken.. a small part in the handle had broken off.So, I sent it back. But that is NOT the fault of the manufacturer.. The cooker itself seemed a little lightweight.. not of the highest quality. Chinese thru and thru... not Spanish as some of the literature suggests. When my mother learned that my pot was broken on shipping, she turned over a new, but stowed away Rapida pressure cooker.. This one was heavy and of much higher quality.. It had been manufactured some five years ago.. I understand the manufacturer of the Rapida is now using China imports.. so the current Rapida may not be of the same quality... Whatever... this Magafesa was totally unimpressive... My Kuhn Rikon 5 quart is heavier than the Magefesa 8 quart (dry & empty), but the Kuhn Rikon also costs 2-3 times more than the Magefesa for a similar size. It also heats up quicker on my gas stove than the Kuhn Rikon.GOOD: - heats up quickly - decent quality - made in Spain (it is stamped on the bottom of the pot) - easy to use - short handles for space saving BAD: - spare parts are only available directly from Magefesa - the handle can be damage during shipping All in all I think it worth the cost, and if I have to buy a pressure cooker now, I will definitely get the Magefesa. (can't justify the extra cost of the Kuhn Rikon) |
